چکیده

Objective Daytime and nighttime patterns affect the dynamic modulation of brain body functions influence autonomic nervous system response to seizures. Therefore, we aimed evaluate 24-hour electrodermal activity (EDA) in patients with without Methods We included pediatric (a) seizures (SZ), including focal impaired awareness (FIAS) or generalized tonic-clonic (GTCS), (b) no normal electroencephalography (NEEG), (c) but epileptiform EEG (EA) during vEEG monitoring. Patients wore a device that continuously recorded EDA temperature (TEMP). levels, spectral power, TEMP levels were analyzed. To investigate patterns, performed nonlinear mixed-effects model analysis. Relative mean pre-ictal (−30 min seizure onset) post-ictal (I: 30 after offset; II: 60 offset) values compared for SZ subgroups. Results 119 (40 SZ, 17 NEEG, 62 EA). level power group-specific models (SZ, EA) (h = 1; P < .01) superior all-patient cohort model. Fifty-nine Pre-ictal lower than respective modulated group values. Post hoc comparisons following period-by-seizure type interaction (EDA level: χ 2 18.50; .001, power: 6.73; .035) revealed higher period I FIAS GTCS II only period. Significance Continuously monitored shows pattern change over 24 hours. Curve amplitudes as who did not exhibit recording Sympathetic skin responses greater more prolonged FIAS. recordings from wearable devices offer noninvasive tool monitor sympathetic potential applications detection, prediction, potentially sudden unexpected death epilepsy (SUDEP) risk estimation.

Continuous monitoring of electrodermal activity during epileptic seizures using a wearable sensor Citation

We present a novel method for monitoring sympathetic nervous system activity during epileptic seizures using a wearable sensor measuring electrodermal activity (EDA). The wearable sensor enables long-term, continuous EDA recordings from patients. Preliminary results from our pilot study suggest that epileptic seizures induce a surge in EDA. These changes are greater in generalized tonic-clonic ...
